As a Partner with Mercury in their Texas office, Jake brings a unique blend of legal, business, and political experience to the firm – both as an attorney and a business professional. Known for his extensive experience in government relations, public policy, and legislative advocacy, he founded The Posey Law Firm, P.C. nearly two decades ago and, since that time, has successfully represented a diverse portfolio of clients across numerous industry sectors, including energy, technology, manufacturing, and aerospace. Consistently recognized by his peers, as well as leading Texas political publications, as one of Austin’s “go-to” lobbyists, Jake represents individuals and Fortune 500 companies, respected market leaders, and some of Texas’ leading state associations. Previously, Jake served in various staff positions at the Texas Capitol, including legal counsel and clerk to a powerful Texas House committee, where he drafted legislation and advised members on pivotal legal issues. He also served as the Chief of Staff to a longstanding member of the Texas Legislature.
Today, Jake proudly works with clients in multiple industries, from prominent corporate organizations to statewide associations and well-regarded non-profits. Jake graduated with a B.A. in M.I.S. and Marketing from Baylor University and received his Juris Doctorate degree from Texas A&M University School of Law. When he’s away from work, Jake can be found spending time with his family, enjoying the outdoors, hunting, fishing, or sitting in the stands at a ball game.
