Co-Chair Long Island
In 2018, Kevin Thomas made history as the first Indian-American elected to New York's State Senate. He served as Assistant Majority Leader for House Operations and chaired the Committee on Consumer Protection. Thomas was active on multiple committees, including Rules, Finance, Health, Judiciary, Local Government, and Agriculture, where he championed legislation that significantly influenced New York's financial landscape.

Senator Thomas's legislative record is marked by significant achievements: he led hearings to address racial discrimination in Long Island's real estate sector, advocating for equitable housing practices. Following the Buffalo shootings, he was instrumental in pushing for laws to increase the age limit for buying semi-automatic weapons. Additionally, he championed Angelica's Law to remove dangerous drivers from the roads and enacted new legislation to crack down on gun trafficking, significantly enhancing public safety.

Prior to his political career, Thomas was an attorney with the New York Legal Assistance Group, focusing on defending the rights of the underrepresented. He also contributed to civil rights as an appointee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights' New York State Advisory Committee.
